How we calculate comparable retail value

Comparable retail value is our estimate of what a garment of the same fibre, the same construction and a similar weight sells for at full price from an established European retailer today. It is not a price we have ever charged, and it is not a discount from our own past pricing. We have never sold anything for more than the price you see on the product page.

We follow four rules:

We only cite a price we have read on the brand's own product page. Search results, marketplaces and resale listings do not count.

We only cite regular prices. If a brand has the item on sale, we leave it out — a sale price tells you nothing about what the garment normally costs.

We only cite prices already shown in euros. We never convert from another currency, because exchange rates move and a converted price is not a price anyone actually pays.

We leave out anything that is out of stock, and anything whose fibre content is not stated on the page.

Where we found more than one qualifying price, we quote the lowest one, not the highest or the average.

We re-check every price we cite before each season. Prices change. If one we rely on moves, we move ours.
